May 1, 2015:  The trails are dry, hepatica is blooming and frogs are chuckling. It’s a good time to get out and enjoy hiking, biking and turkey hunting  in the town forest.

Root Hill is closed to motorized vehicles till June 1. Equestians, please use your judgment and don’t ride on Root Hill if it’s muddy

Dec 25th: It’s time to enjoy the holiday season in the town forest.

2014: Firearm hunting season for deer is going on now. Hunting is permitted in the town forest by licensed hunters in season and is important for keeping the deer population healthy and in control. Non hunters please wear bright colors and be considerate of hunters. Last day for gun season is Dec. 7.

Oct 25, 2014: Fall tick season is here, take precautions! In the town forest low numbers of ticks appear to be found mainly on the power line.

Oct 12, 2014: The fall meeting and work day was attended by Bill and Daniel Palmer, Patrick Clancy, Ed Woodbury and Ginny Prince. The website, a potential Eagle Scout project, forest inventory and culvert repairs were discussed. The crew clipped invasive buckthorn and barberry, trimmed brush at the lookout and hiked the proposed new trail.
