Part-time (15 hours per week), Salary $20 hour
The George H. Stowell Free Library in Cornish, New Hampshire is seeking a librarian. This is a part-time position of 15 hours per-week starting on or after April 15, 2024. Duties involve community engagement, program and collection development, budget management, and staff and volunteer management.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing all aspects of the library in conformity with Trustee policies and state law and regulations. Carries out interlibrary loan procedures for incoming and outgoing library materials using NHAIS. Engages with patrons, staff, and volunteers of different ages and backgrounds. Communicates and advocates for library with the community and elected Town leadership, including the Board of Trustees.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
Preferred: MLS/MLIS degree received or in progress
EXPERIENCE
Required: extensive experience using in a library; demonstrated leadership with either employees or volunteers; demonstrated innovation/imagination in project or program development.
Preferred: at least two years’ experience working in a library
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong public service orientation, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of current resources, programs, and services available to libraries
- Management of people and programs
- Familiarity with multiple software applications (e.g., Canva, MailChimp, Google suite) and mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, e-readers, tablets)
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Ability to configure, use and maintain an Integrated Library System and online catalog (e.g. KOHA).
