CORNISH CRIME ALERT
On Saturday Morning, October 17th at 3:45 am, person(s) unknown entered a residence in the northwest corner of Cornish while they slept. The resident was awoken by the sound of a hall door closing, and got up to check on the noise, thinking it might be one of their young adult children that were not supposed to be home that evening. The resident called out their names, did not hear anything, and returned to bed. Upon waking in the morning, they discovered the woman’s purse and camera missing from the downstairs area. The purse was located on the property outside the house later that day.
The Cornish Police Department wants to caution all residents to maintain vigilance in home safety. Ensuring all doors and windows are secured, neighbors know when you will be gone for long periods of time, and calling the Police Department when suspicious circumstances warrant it.
If anyone has information on this or any other crime, they are urged to contact the Cornish Police Department at (603) 543-0535 or Cornish.police@comcast.net.

On Saturday evening, October 10, 2009, between midnight and 7:30 am, parties unknown drove around Cornish, going through mailboxes and opening some of the mail and throwing it out onto the road way. It appears they were only opening hand written mail, and cards, in hopes of finding money in the cards. Several handwritten envelopes that contained checks were open and discarded on the roadway. I have found this apparently occurred on Root Hill Road, Parsonage Road, and Center Road.
Please remember to take your mail in daily for the foreseeable future. If you were expecting something that has not arrived, double check with the sending party. I have returned most of the mail I recovered, and left Yellow Cards on peoples doors where I did not make contact with them.
If anyone has information on this crime, or saw/heard something Saturday night, Sunday morning, please contact me
at (603) 543-0535 or Cornish.police@comcast.net.

A MESSAGE FROM DOUG HACKETT
The Cornish Police Department is looking for a few good Citizens.
Due to an increased number of thefts and burglaries during the daytime hours, we are looking at starting a Cornish Citizens Patrol for the daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
I will be reaching out to businesses and anyone that can help to provide our Citizens Patrol with gas cards to cover the cost of the fuel to do this patrol. I will equip you with a cell phone, and a digital recorder that you can note vehicle descriptions and locations and times into. If we can, I would like to send two people out at a time. These are just my thoughts at this time, more to follow on Monday night.
If you cannot make it but are interested, e-mail me at Cornish.Police@Comcast.net.
