Announcements
- Meet our new Librarian!
The Trustees of the George H. Stowell Free Library are happy to announce the appointment of our new librarian, Lucy Applegate. She will begin her duties on Wednesday, May 1. We have asked her to introduce herself to you:
“I am Lucy Applegate, the new Librarian at G.H. Stowell Library. I moved to New England eight years ago from humid Louisiana and have never looked back. For the better part of a decade, I have worked in libraries similar to the one in Cornish. In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, quilting, and reading: mysteries, historical fiction, and non-fiction about Oceanography. With an education in early childhood development and English, I am excited to learn more about your community and library. Can’t wait to see you at the library!”
Please do stop by the library to welcome her. She is looking forward to getting to know us.
We say goodbye and thank you to our current librarian, Stephanie MacAndrew, who will be leaving us soon to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity for her family. We wish her well on her journey.
Book Discussion Group
The Book Discussion Group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00–8:00 pm. A list of books as well as the book for the next discussion can be picked up in advance of the meeting during regular library hours. View the book list here.
New Books
New books arrive regularly. If you have book requests or suggestions for the community, please stop by and let us know or log in to your library account and make a suggestion.
Book Sale Items
Discarded books, audio books, and DVDs; donated books that were not added to the collection; and duplicate copies are all available on our ongoing Book Sale Shelf. They are priced to sell at $.25 each for hardcover books and $.10 each for paperbacks. Proceeds from the book sale are used to purchase new materials.
Movies and Audio Books
Movies in DVD and Blue Ray formats and audio books are cataloged in the library’s online catalog as video recordings. The Library also has a rotating collection of audiobooks and movies from the LUV Coop.
